In de afgelopen jaren heeft TEAM SPORT•GOUDA hard met elkaar gewerkt aan een ‘Next Level’ SPORT•GOUDA. Dit is ook opgevallen buiten de stadsgrenzen. Via het kennisveld van landelijke partners is SPORT•GOUDA in gesprek geraakt met het ministerie van VWS over de sport- en beweeguitdagingen op St. Eustatius (Statia), een bijzondere gemeente binnen ons koninkrijk. SPORT•GOUDA heeft een voorstel mogen schrijven om de sportorganisatie uit St. Eustatius te ondersteunen bij het toekomstbestendig maken van hun organisatie, zodat iedereen in St. Eustatius kan sporten en bewegen. De Goudse sportorganisatie is trots te kunnen melden dat het voorstel geaccepteerd is en kijkt uit naar een duurzame samenwerking.
SPORT•GOUDA gaat St. Eustatius ondersteunen met kennis en kunde
Statia Sports Foundation (SSFF)
Op het Caribisch Nederlandse eiland St. Eustatius wordt sport en bewegen mogelijk gemaakt door een soortgelijke organisatie als SPORT•GOUDA: Statia Sports Foundation (SSFF). Tijdens een bezoek van een delegatie van het Openbaar Lichaam van Statia en het ministerie van VWS aan SPORT•GOUDA heeft de Goudse sportorganisatie kunnen laten zien hoe de ambitie om iedereen in Gouda mee te laten doen wordt vormgegeven, in onder andere het Groenhovenbad en in sporthal de Mammoet. Na dit bezoek is er gesproken over mogelijke ondersteuning van de SSFF vanuit SPORT•GOUDA en is besloten om een samenwerking aan te gaan.
De ondersteuning die SPORT•GOUDA gaat bieden zal bestaan uit het delen van kennis met de medewerkers van SSFF en met de inwoners van Statia op het gebied van sport, bewegen en gezondheid. Het uitgangspunt van SPORT•GOUDA is hierbij een duurzame samenwerking met SSFF, het Openbaar Lichaam Statia en het ministerie van VWS te realiseren.

SPORT•GOUDA heeft bewezen deze missie op een grote schaal uit te voeren. Hun expertise zal bijdragen aan het verbeteren van ons sportsysteem en gezondheidsbewustzijn. Toekomstgericht heeft SPORT•GOUDA deze rol op een langere schaal geassisteerd. Hun expertise zal bijdragen aan het verzekeren van een meer actieve en gezonde levensstijl voor generaties te komen."
Ambitie
SPORT•GOUDA heeft in haar meerjarenplan de ambitie uitgesproken om de kennis die er binnen de organisatie is, ook te delen met andere gemeenten. Dus ook met de Nederlandse gemeenten in het Caribisch gebied. Vanuit de kernwaarden persoonlijk, in verbinding, met plezier, duurzaam en uitdagend en de overtuiging dat iedereen moet kunnen meedoen met sport en bewegen, heeft de organisatie de keuze gemaakt om gebruik te maken van deze kans.
Frank Berteling, directeur SPORT•GOUDA: “Het feit dat we nu de kans krijgen om onze kennis te gaan delen in Statia laat zien wat voor geweldige stappen we als TEAM SPORT•GOUDA met elkaar hebben gezet de afgelopen tijd. We brengen onze kennis graag over aan collega-gemeenten, maar we zien dit ook als een kans om van SSFF te leren en die opgedane kennis vervolgens te gebruiken bij onze eigen werkzaamheden voor de Goudse inwoners.”.
Aafke van Leeuwen, Manager Leefstijl bij SPORT•GOUDA vult aan: “We boren op deze manier natuurlijk ook nieuwe geldstromen aan, die we kunnen gaan inzetten om Gouwenaars in beweging te krijgen. Al met al een hele toffe uitdaging waar we met veel plezier aan gaan werken.”
SPORT•GOUDA start in september met een inventarisatie van de huidige situatie en de behoeften van de inwoners, organisaties en partners in Statia. Daarna wordt er besloten welke expertise (bijvoorbeeld op het gebied van onderhoud en beheer van sportaccommodaties, sporten in het sociaal domein, verenigingsondersteuning, sport en gezondheid) er moet worden ingezet om Statia te ondersteunen bij het toekomstbestendig maken van hun sportorganisatie.

In recent years, TEAM SPORT•GOUDA has worked hard to take SPORT•GOUDA to the 'Next Level.' This progress has also been noticed beyond the city limits. Through the network of national partners, SPORT•GOUDA engaged in conversation with the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sports (VWS) about the sports and physical activity challenges on St. Eustatius (Statia), a special municipality within our kingdom. SPORT•GOUDA was invited to propose support for the sports organization in St. Eustatius to make their organization future-proof, enabling everyone on the island to participate in sports and physical activities. SPORT•GOUDA is proud to announce that their proposal has been accepted, and they are looking forward to a sustainable collaboration.

Statia Sports Foundation (SSFF)
On the Caribbean Dutch island of St. Eustatius, sports and physical activities are facilitated by a similar organization to SPORT•GOUDA: Statia Sports Foundation (SSFF). During a visit from a delegation representing the Public Entity of Statia and the Ministry of VWS to SPORT•GOUDA, the Gouda sports organization showcased how they work towards their ambition of inclusivity in Gouda, including initiatives at the Groenhovenbad (swimming pool) and de Mammoet sports hall. Following this visit, discussions were held regarding potential support from SPORT•GOUDA to SSFF, leading to a decision to enter into a collaboration.
The support provided by SPORT•GOUDA will involve sharing knowledge with SSFF staff and the residents of Statia in the areas of sports, physical activity, and health. The underlying principle of SPORT•GOUDA is to establish a sustainable partnership with SSFF, the Public Entity of Statia, and the Ministry of VWS.

Ambition
In its multi-year plan, SPORT•GOUDA expressed the ambition to share its knowledge with other municipalities, including those in the Dutch Caribbean. Driven by their core values of personal engagement, connection, enjoyment, sustainability, and challenge, and their belief that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in sports and physical activities, the organization made the choice to seize this opportunity.
Frank Berteling, Director of SPORT•GOUDA: "The fact that we now have the chance to share our knowledge in Statia shows the incredible progress we have made as TEAM SPORT•GOUDA in recent times. We are eager to share our expertise with fellow municipalities, but we also see this as an opportunity to learn from SSFF and apply that knowledge in our own efforts to benefit the residents of Gouda."
Aafke van Leeuwen, Lifestyle Manager at SPORT•GOUDA, adds: "In this way, we are also tapping into new funding sources that we can use to get Gouwenaars (residents of Gouda) moving. All in all, it's an exciting challenge that we are delighted to work on."
SPORT•GOUDA will begin the process in September with an inventory of the current situation and the needs of the residents, organizations, and partners in Statia. Afterward, they will decide which expertise (e.g., in maintenance and management of sports facilities, sports in the social domain, support for sports clubs, sports and health) should be employed to assist Statia in making its sports organization future-proof.
